Some roles are so intense that the actors actually need to live like the person whom they portray on screen. While prepping at such an extreme level surely brings out memorable performances, it sometimes results in affecting the artists’ state of mind as well.

Val Kilmer is one of the stars who had a similar experience while filming The Doors in which he depicted the long-haired singer Jim Morrison. The character was so demanding that the former even needed therapy to get back to his normal life. Although the film had moderate reviews, Kilmer’s work was worth noticing – so was his get-up as the iconic rock musician.
