Gladys Knight – Killing It on the Stage at Age 75
While the 60s, 70s and 80s were kind to singer Gladys Knight and her fellow band members who formed the Soul/R&B group, Gladys Knight & the Pips, her solo career is what gave the “Empress of Soul” her due recognition. With 11 number-one R&B hits, including “That’s What Friends Are For” and “Midnight Train to Georgia”, Gladys was ruling the charts.
The singer even recorded the theme song for the famous James Bond movie Licence to Kill and much later in her career, another song for the Oscar-nominated movie The Butler. Gladys may be in her mid 70s now, but unlike some of her contemporaries who have hung up their boots and embraced retirement, she is kicking up a storm with her international tours and concerts.
