Bob McGrath – Retired at Age 87
Music plays a big role in the life of Sesame Street star, Bob McGrath, which may be why he stayed on with the show for 47 years, as he gets to sing his heart out. McGrath’s interest in music started early, at the age of five and he was influenced by his own mother, who was a pianist. Growing up, he became part of glee clubs, joined singing competitions and musical plays, and even when he joined the army during the Korean War, he joined the 7th Army Symphony.
McGrath played the part of Bob Johnson in Sesame Street from the time of its inception in 1969. That only means that when the show celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019, it was the actor’s celebration, too. He retired in 2016, but continued to represent the long-running educational television program during events.
