There’s a lot to still learn about poaching which is prevalent in a few parts of the globe more than others, and some folks believe that it was a problem of the past. However, this is not true and several organizations put in energy, money, and time to curb poaching, there is always room for more people to get involved in ensuring that poaching stops.
Why Is Poaching Illegal?
When people indulge in poaching, they are unjustly killing away wildlife. If a hunter fells an animal out of season, it is considered poaching. In addition, if somebody kills an animal without a proper license, then they poached that animal. If a hunter uses disallowed weaponry, this too is poaching. If you kill animals in a prohibited manner, that is also poaching. Slaughtering a protected species is also poaching and exceeding the laid bag limit is technically poaching. Finally, killing any animal while trespassing on disallowed territory, counts as poaching. Poaching is, therefore, considered unlawful. Local laws definitely disallow any hunters from poaching animals, but state and international laws establish that it is illegal for hunters to poach certain animals, using certain weapons, and in certain conditions. Unfortunately, this does not stop poaching from happening, especially in countries with many valuable animals and the poaching capital of the world is Africa where a massive poaching occurs due to elephants, hippos and rhinos there. Poachers kill these animals due to their valuable ivory or their fur. No matter why poachers wish to an animal, it is illegal to kill an animal in these aforementioned ways, places, and conditions. As poaching is illegal, it is punishable under law but it still occurs very often and if we decide to stop poaching, we can ensure the safety of animals and the environment.
